In terms of size, the maximum size is 5 MB's (megabytes). However there is NO reason why you would need to upload a picture of that size. Therefore, think of your picture size in terms of dimensions. The maximum width is 480 pixels (approximately 4 inches or roughly 10 cm). This is a common size that many picture applications like Picassa use.
