Insert an Anchor / Internal Bookmark

To insert an anchor, or internal anchor, there are three basic steps to follow:

  • Add the anchor
  • Select the text you would like to link to that anchor
  • Choose the correct anchor from the list of available anchors
  • Click OK

That's it! Smile

I want to add an anchor here, so I click the icon that looks like an anchor

I have to give my anchor a name and click Ok.

After I click Ok, I see a yellow box with an anchor where I inserted the anchor.

Now I want to link my text here up to my anchor.

So I highligh the text I want to link and click the icon that looks like a chain link.

In the pop up box, I look for the section that says ANCHOR: ---
and choose my anchor name from the list of available anchors.

Then I click Ok and I see my text is now linked.

That's it!

Now it usually makes sense to make links to anchors EARLY or HIGH up on the page so you don't have to scroll down to find the links :-) so this page is a bad example of that Embarassed

But if you look at the URL, you will see the address has added \#first anchor to the URL so you know it's working!
