Parent Teacher Association

What is the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Club?

The PTA is an active parent driven organization whose main goal is to bring the entire school community together. To achieve this objective, the PTA organizes a variety of events, mostly held at the school in the evenings. This provides a great opportunity to meet all the other members of the school: children, teachers, staff and other parents, in a relaxed and fun-filled environment. The events are organized to include entertainment and activities for all age levels. Parents can get involved in any aspect of an event from chairing it to helping with a game.

All funds raised from the PTA's activities normally support the school. Sometimes, a special event will raise funds for an outside charity. Proceeds from recent events have been used to purchase outdoor tables and benches, exhibition cases, and contributions to the 20th anniversary celebration of BFIS. In addition, we are also working with administration to update cafeteria facilities.

The PTA also sponsors and produces a high quality newsletter, The Flash three or four times a year that captures images of recent events and includes news on school happenings.

All parents are members of the PTA and elections are held annually to vote in the Committee for the forthcoming year.

The PTA welcomes and invites you all to join in your childrens' activities and booster events. Let's enjoy and share this year at BFIS together!

PTA Officers for 2009-2010 are:

Robin Kahn - President
Marjolijn McConuladh - Vice President
