Though cyberbullying has not been identified as a problem amongst BFIS students, studies from the US and the UK show that it is most prevalent amongst Middle School aged students. Time is taken to speak to our students about this matter as a preventive measure. Cyberbullying takes many forms, but in the end it is about kids hurting each other via electronic means. Be it by using cell phone text messaging, email, online forums/blogs, or chats, hurting someone else is easier today as these tools provide a certain level of anonymity to the offender. Following are some resources for parents to learn more about this form of bullying and to find useful information about identifying it and preventing.
Online resources for parents: A relatively fast and simple way to find out about your child's online activities is to perform a search on Google , Yahoo! or MSN using your child's name.
