Our School

HS annex.jpg The Benjamin Franklin International School was founded in 1986 by visionary parents with a dream. That dream was to create a school in Barcelona that combined the best of three elements - an authentic American education, a diverse student population, and the superb cultural opportunities that abound in Barcelona.

We continue to share that dream and work hard every day to perfect the school and the education. Our student body reflects a genuine balance of American, Spanish/Catalan, and other international students. The quality of our education sets us apart and offers our graduates a world of opportunities to engage in a rich and rewarding life beyond Benjamin Franklin.

The school, since its inception, has been recognized for its quality educational program, American-style curriculum and certified American-trained faculty . In addition to relatively small class sizes, the school prides itself on its personal approach in meeting individual student needs. This personal approach is extended throughout the school community engendering a strong sense of community that makes visitors feel welcome, encourages parents to volunteer, and students to feel a commitment to the school.

Benjamin Franklin is a small international school with approximately 400 students from Nursery to Grade 12 . The school offers students two diplomas: the American High School Diploma and the Spanish Bachillerato. BFIS prepares students to attend universities in the United States, Spain and worldwide.
